At Rad AI, we’re on a mission to transform healthcare with artificial intelligence. Founded by a radiologist, our AI-driven solutions are revolutionizing radiology—saving time, reducing burnout, and improving patient care. With one of the largest proprietary radiology report datasets in the world, our AI has helped uncover hundreds of new cancer diagnoses and reduced error rates in tens of millions of radiology reports by nearly 50%.
Rad AI has secured over $140M in funding, including a recently oversubscribed Series C ($68M round) led by Transformation Capital, bringing our valuation to $528M. Our investors include Khosla Ventures, World Innovation Lab, Gradient Ventures, Cone Health Ventures, and others—all backing our mission to empower physicians with cutting-edge AI.
Our latest advancements in generative AI are used by thousands of radiologists daily, supporting more than one-third of radiology groups and healthcare systems and nearly 50% of all medical imaging in the U.S. at partners including Cone Health, Jefferson Einstein Health, Geisinger, Guthrie Healthcare System, and Henry Ford Health.
Recognized as one of the most promising healthcare AI companies by CB Insights and AuntMinnie, and ranked by Deloitte as the 19th fastest-growing company in North America, we are building AI-powered solutions that make a real impact. Most recently, Rad AI was named to CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list, highlighting the innovation and momentum behind our mission.
If you’re ready to shape the future of healthcare, we’d love to have you on our team!
Why Join Us:
As part of the Core Services team, you’ll help design the systems and foundations that power Rad AI’s products. Your work is enabling our engineers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that improve patient care at scale.
We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer who thrives on building systems that empower teams and scale effectively. This role focuses on developing templates, libraries, and processes that address underlying challenges and enable consistent, reliable solutions across the organization.
The ideal candidate is fluent in at least one of our core languages — Python, TypeScript, or Go — and approaches technology as a tool for solving meaningful problems. They value clean, maintainable code and believe that exceptional engineering is grounded in thoughtful design, collaboration, and clarity.
They understand both object-oriented and functional programming paradigms, applying each where appropriate. Their experience spans designing and maintaining monolithic and microservice-based architectures, and includes making pragmatic, data-driven decisions to balance scalability with immediate impact.
The engineer is adept at gathering and refining requirements with cross-functional teams, translating complex needs into clear technical plans. They communicate risks early, collaborate to deliver sustainable solutions, and delegate effectively to build trust and achieve predictable, high-quality outcomes. They also lead with curiosity, empathy, and accountability, recognizing that diverse perspectives create stronger, more innovative systems.
What You’ll Be Doing:
-Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance systems that enable consistency and reliability across Rad AI’s products.
Contribute to large-scale web applications and internal platforms that streamline workflows and increase efficiency for clinicians and internal users.
Collaborate on a modern JavaScript (React/TypeScript) frontend application and contribute to shared libraries and patterns that enhance developer productivity.
Develop and extend Python (FastAPI) backend services, including REST APIs and ML pipeline integrations, with a focus on maintainability, security, and performance.
Partner closely with Product Management, UX, Customer Success, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, shape technical solutions, and iterate quickly based on feedback.
Contribute to the architecture and development of both monolithic and microservice systems, ensuring scalability, observability, and maintainability across environments.
Write clean, testable, and well-documented code that meets Rad AI’s standards for security, style, and maintainability in a high-scale, HIPAA-compliant environment.
Identify opportunities to standardize and abstract solutions through reusable frameworks, templates, and automation that simplify complex systems.
Advocate for and implement improvements to product quality, security, and performance with a focus on sustainable, systemic impact.
Communicate risks early, propose actionable paths forward, and collaborate across disciplines to drive successful delivery.
Who We’re Looking For:
-6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including leading or owning core systems or platforms.
Proficiency in at least one of: Python, TypeScript, or Go (or comparable experience in another modern language).
Strong foundation in both object-oriented and functional programming concepts.
Hands-on experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases, and an understanding of when each is most appropriate.
Experience gathering requirements and collaborating cross-functionally to define and deliver solutions.
Experience building and supporting both monolithic and microservice architectures, with attention to scalability, reliability, and observability.
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve systemic problems through reusable code, shared libraries, and process improvements.
Clear and proactive communication skills — able to identify risks early and offer constructive paths forward.
Passion for designing foundational tools that simplify complexity and make engineering teams more effective.
Nice to Haves:
-Experience building internal developer platforms, SDKs, or reusable frameworks.
Background in infrastructure automation, CI/CD systems, or service orchestration.
Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).
Experience working in healthcare, AI/ML, or other regulated environments.
Experience migrating between architectural patterns (e.g., monolith to microservices).
Contributions to open source projects or internal shared codebases.
Experience mentoring or supporting peers in technical growth.
Enthusiasm for creating an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture that values learning and improvement.
Join our world-class team as we build and deploy AI solutions that empower physicians and transform patient care—making a meaningful impact on millions of lives. Driven by our mission, we prioritize transparency, inclusion, and close collaboration, bringing together exceptional people to revolutionize healthcare. If you're passionate about driving innovation and delivering impactful healthcare solutions, we'd love to hear from you!
