Roles and Responsibilities
We’re hiring a Product Manager to lead payments innovation for the Optimism ecosystem.
Payments are at a tipping point, with stablecoins, instant settlement, and global accessibility making onchain rails a viable alternative to traditional networks. In this role, you’ll define the roadmap for onchain payments, partner with the world’s largest payment companies, and launch products that make moving money faster, cheaper, and more accessible.
As the creators of Optimism mainnet and the infrastructure that powers all OP-Stack chains, OP Labs is dedicated to enhancing Ethereum’s performance exponentially. We operate as a Public Benefit Corporation, which allows us to align our mission with the greater public good, ensuring that the profits we generate contribute to funding Ethereum public goods. Our goal is to take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future for the internet.
What are the role responsibilities?
-Lead the Payments Roadmap: Define and execute the roadmap across products, integrations, and growth initiatives that drive payments adoption within the Optimism ecosystem. Key focus areas: payment service providers, stablecoin settlement, onramp/offramp orchestration, and ecosystem growth programs.
Champion the Customer: Develop a deep understanding of the onchain payments ecosystem and the infrastructure PSPs need to succeed. Advocate for products, protocol features, and partnerships that create unique value for enterprise payment customers.
Partner with the Ecosystem: Collaborate with ecosystem partners, including infrastructure providers, protocols, exchanges, and chains, to deliver solutions that lower the barrier for enterprises to adopt crypto rails.
Collaborate on Cross-Functional Projects: Work closely with engineering, business, and marketing teams to bring initiatives from concept to launch.
What skills do you bring?
-Required: 7+ Years of Product Management Experience in Payments: Experience in payments infrastructure, consumer payments, or enterprise payments. Direct stablecoin or crypto experience is a plus.
Customer Driven: You love talking to enterprise customers, understanding their needs, and solving their challenges and do so proactively
Technical Aptitude: Comfortable connecting infrastructure-level concepts to product experience and GTM execution
Payments Knowledge: Strong understanding of fiat money transfer mechanics, settlement systems, and traditional banking rails
Mission Aligned: Belief that blockchains can enable better, faster, cheaper, and more accessible payments for anyone with an internet connection
Collaboration and Adaptability: You’re comfortable in an ambiguous environment, ready to jump in and pivot as priorities evolve
Standout Communication Skills: An amazing ability to communicate complex concepts to a diverse audience, both written and verbally
